Under the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (General Application) (Amendment) Regulations 2016, all employees who are required to operate and mount Abrasive Wheels must be provided with appropriate training.
Abrasive Wheels Training is designed to provide attendees with knowledge of the hazards and risks associated with Abrasive Wheels and the safe selection and use of Abrasive Wheels.

Who Should Attend
This course is ideal for those that need the knowledge and skills to operate abrasive wheels safely in the workplace.
Duration of course: Half Day
Description
Provide participants with the knowledge, and skills to enable employees to use abrasive wheels safely including all aspects of the correct mounting, setting and use of abrasive wheels.
• Abrasive wheels regulations
• Identifying the hazards working with abrasive wheels
• Selecting the correct wheel for the job
• Inspection & testing of abrasive wheels
• Guarding of grinding and cutting operations
• Dressing of abrasive wheels
• Functions of components, flanges, blotters etc
• Differences between grinding and cutting operations
• Safe mounting of the abrasive wheel
• Personal Protective Equipment.
Assessment
All attendees who successfully complete the course and both the Theory and Practical assessment will receive an Abrasive Wheels Training Certificate which is valid for three years.
An Abrasive Wheels Theory Test must be completed by all attendees. Attendees must achieve a minimum pass mark to successfully complete the course. The attendees must also demonstrate knowledge of how to inspect, select, mount and store Abrasive Wheels.
